GEOFENCE Messages

This feature is N/A in ONIS Personal Mode.

The Outback Navigation Information System (ONIS) features an optional integrated Geofence Message system which comprises of data files containing configured Geofence records by the customer with locations and associated message descriptions.

If the ONIS finds a Geofence Message data record matching the current geofence location, then the associated data record message will be displayed.

The Geofence Message:

  • can be configured with only a display message (silent)

  • can be configured with a audio alert beep and/or voice message

  • will flash on/off on the bottom of the map page every 5 seconds (approx.)

  • message information can be configured up to 35 characters in length.

The message background colours can be configured from the following:

  • blue (default, if incorrect or undefined)
  • black
  • green
  • purple
  • maroon
  • grey
  • navy

Additional Geofence Message Data can be added in the "Long Message Description" which can be viewed by selecting on the Geofence message "Scroll Icon" on the right hand side of the message.

The "Long Message Description" data can be many pages, if required.

User Geofence data records can be configured by the customer using the inbuilt tools, or imported using a PC connected to the ONIS.

System Geofence data records are secured and only configurable by the ONIS administrator (with information provided by the customer) and installed during the build process.

System Geofence data records will take precedence over User Geofence entries if both are found for the same current Geofence location.

We recommend ONLY using use the System Geofence data records if the data WILL NOT change for the life of the ONIS.

The ONIS tools are easy to understand and use, however Geofence Message management in general can be complex and we recommend some training in this area to ensure a robust implementation.
