OUTBACK NAVIGATION INFORMATION SYSTEM
OUTBACK NAVIGATION INFORMATION SYSTEM
The Outback Navigation Information System (ONIS) consists of a software suite that we install onto the customer supplied 5" cradle mounted portable Android Personal Navigation Device (PND).
GPSIS licenses the OziExplorer and kiosk apps, and supplies the external SD card containing the OSM and Topographic 250k maps used in OziExplorer.
The ONIS suite has three modes of operation (and purchase):
Fleet Owner Mode.
This mode allows the business owner to collect, import, export and configure Geofence, Waypoint and Tracklog data in addition to "Business User Mode" functionality.
The "Owner Mode" is used to deploy Business "User Mode" devices ensuring that all users are
presented with a secured consistent user experience.
Fleet User Mode.
This mode allows the user to operate the ONIS with all features that have been configured by the business owner.
Personal Mode.
This mode is tailored for the non business user and removes features that would typically not be required by a single user.
We provide the customer with the details required to purchase the PND devices that allow us to install our software suite.
We provide the licensing for the OziExplorer & Kiosk apps and supply the external SD card with our OSM and Geoscience Australian maps.
The PND comes with a selection of mounting options and brackets including a windscreen suction cap mount, adjustable ball joint extension arm and a handlebar option.
A 12V cigarette lighter power supply and a fixed wiring option, are also supplied.
The PND device is rated IPX7 (protected against immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes) allowing it to be used in wet conditions such as hiking, motor cycles or quad bikes.
The customer has the option of purchasing the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) kit which comes with 4 wheel sensors.
Note:
We provide the customer with the details of the required TPMS kit which will interface to the integrated TPMS app in the ONIS software suite.
The image above is an example of how the ONIS can be robustly mounted using the "ball joint" system, and fixed to the vehicle using an existing "grab rail" mounting bolt and a custom bracket.
This installed ONIS is connected to the 12V cigarette power socket in the center console, with the power cable running under the dash mat.
