OUTBACK NAVIGATION INFORMATION SYSTEM
OUTBACK NAVIGATION INFORMATION SYSTEM
The Outback Navigation Information System (ONIS) uses the OziExplorer Tracklog functionality.
Tracklogs can be loaded or unloaded using the menu buttons on page 2
The ONIS also incorporates two modes of Tracklog management.
USER MODE.
The ONIS in "User Mode", allows the user to load Tracklogs from the pre-configured folders, and then use these Tracklogs to visually route to a destination by following the Tracklog line on the map.
Tracklogs loaded by the user are only temporary and will be removed when the navigation app is closed.
OWNER MODE.
The ONIS in "Owner Mode", allows the owner to save Tracklogs based on the their current journey.
These Tracklogs can then be exported out of the Owner ONIS and then populated onto the external SD cards or the owner filer server, for importing into other ONIS units.
Refer to the "OziExplorer Overview" document in the download tab for more detail.
The ONIS tools are easy to understand and use, however Tracklog management in general can be complex and we recommend some training in this area to ensure a robust implementation.
Note:
The maximum number of Tracklogs that can be loaded is limited to 1,000
The maximum number of points per Tracklog is unlimited.
The owner can configure the ONIS to load a "STARTUP TRACKLOG" every time the ONIS navigation is started.
This provides the ability to overlay asset locations directly over maps that typically would not have this information.
The example above displays a Natural Gas Pipeline Easement in a residential area.
The margin of tolerance is dependent on the number of visible satellites and the GPS receiver (typically +/- 5-10m).
User can load or unload existing saved Tracklogs from the ONIS default folder.
NOTE:
All Tracklogs will be unloaded when the navigation app closes.
The user can load pre-configured Tracklogs.
The ONIS contains two areas to load Tracklogs:
1. USER_TRACKLOGS
This is the folder where the default owner Tracklogs are located.
2. WWW_DOWNLOADED_TRACKLOGS
This is the folder where the selected WWW downloaded Tracklogs are located.
The user can follow the Tracklog visually along a pre-defined existing path to a destination.
The margin of tolerance is dependent on the number of visible satellites and the GPS receiver (typically +/- 5-10m).
The above Tracklog was captured using an Owner ONIS and could be an example of a fire front.
The captured data can be uploaded to the WWW and then downloaded to the field vehicles.
The "Start' and" End" Waypoints indicate the time of capture
NOTE:
A 4G , 5G or satellite communication device with WiFi capability is required to download data to the ONIS.
