Driving Fatigue Timer

A Driving Fatigue Timer is integrated into the Outback Navigation Information System (ONIS) which can be enabled or disabled in the Setup Mode menu.

GPSIS has designed the Driving Fatigue Timer functions to be automated - the driver simply needs to drive and then rest when the "Park & Rest" message is displayed.

An enabled Driving Fatigue Timer with OziExplorer running:

  • is set to 120 minutes driving time and 10 minutes resting time (these values are not configurable)

  • will become active once the vehicle speed exceeds 75 km/h for the first time since resting

  • will display a DRIVING TIMER FINISHED message (with audio alert if above 8 km/h) when the driving timer has finished

  • will display the timer overrun time (33 minutes overrun in above image)

  • will reset the driving timer automatically after 10 minutes of resting

  •  will continually (every 5 seconds approx.) display flash messages for the driving time remaining , resting time remaining, or rest time completed.

There are only three ways to reset the rest timer in User Mode:

  • park the vehicle and rest for at least 10 minutes with OziExplorer running

  • park the vehicle and power down the ONIS for at least 10 minutes

  • park the vehicle, disable and then enable the Driving Fatigue Timer from the Setup Mode menu (this will bypass the 10 minute rest period).

Owner & Personal Mode users can reset the rest time from the fatigue message.

The ONIS does NOT allow for the Driving Fatigue Timer to operate without resting if a driver and passenger change driving responsibilities as the ONIS is unable to confirm this change.

The Driving Fatigue Timers retain information:

  • after a ONIS restart

  • whilst the ONIS is powered down.

The owner can configure the Driving Fatigue Timer to:

  •  remain enabled at all times

  • remove the "Mute" button.

Update Flash Messages

One of the messages above will be displayed and toggle ON/OFF in the top center of the map screen.
